“To experience Lama Karma, is to experience someone who is so genuine as to be captivating. One cannot have an experience with Lama Karma without learning some wonderful new way of thinking. For the western mind to wrap itself around an eastern philosophy such as Buddhism is difficult, until one spends time with Lama Karma. Suddenly one begins to understand, to experience and to truly enjoy the experience.

"On top of being a gentle guide, and being so genuine, he has a delightful sense of humor that creeps out as part of the learning & teaching experience. He is truly a joy to encounter and to encounter him is to be enriched in inexplicable ways. I simply accept the learning experience without trying to academically dissect the experience.”

“Lama Karma demonstrated, explained, and taught his audience members about traditional Lama dancing. He was patient and thorough, speaking to all elements of the tradition ... dance dress, ceremony, spiritual elements, and his calling to dance through the monastery. The most striking part of the evening was his demeanor while taking questions from the audience. Our questions strayed far from Lama Dancing to more abstract questions of Buddhism and Bhutanese culture, and Lama was unshakably patient, open, honest, and illuminating in his answers. It is a joy to interact with Lama Karma and to share conversation, ideas, questions, and his irrepressible kindness.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Lama Karma, whose natural compassion put us at ease. His stories about the culture and history of his Shangri-la type homeland of Bhutan intrigued us, and his gentle emphasis of the essential teachings of Buddhism was a good reminder to us all.”

“I had the wonderful opportunity to hear Lama Karma speak to a group that I am involved with. As a non-Buddhist it was an educational experience. He spoke about the meaning of different dances he does as a lama and as a Buddhist. He showed our group a few steps ... way harder than it looks. At the end of his presentation, he opened the floor to questions. No matter how off the wall the question, he was able to answer the seekers question. He explained Buddhist concepts in ways that were understandable to the rest of us.”

“What dynamics come from this powerful little man, Lama Karma, as he practices leaps and twirling’s of his sacred dance. He reminds me of a spinning wheel fire works. The center is bright and beautiful and the spinning broadcast energy to all around enveloping them in gentle reassuring strength and awareness.”

“I really enjoyed hearing about Lama Karma’s life growing up at the Buddhist monastery. I also enjoyed learning some of the simple steps of Lama Dancing. I thought Lama Karma was very warm, caring, and had a sense of humor. I was surprised he went out to dinner after his presentation with some of the Culture Shock members and wished that I could have gone along with them. That had to be a very cool experience. I am excited that he is coming back here to Salem and I can’t wait to see him again.”

“I really enjoyed Lama’s visit and felt a sense of calm and peacefulness when around him. ‘My favorite part of his visit was the prayer meditation at the end. He sat on stage and chanted for about 5 minutes. The room was silent except for this. It might sound stupid, but at one point he just seemed to be glowing with energy and afterwards he gave us each a necklace that had been blessed by the Dalai Lama himself. Some of us usually go out to dinner after the meetings and Lama Karma actually chose to come with us ... to Applebee’s of all places. He blessed our meal before we ate and was very curious to get to know at least one thing about each of us. He was a kind man and I look forward to meeting him again.”
